An open wound needs time to heal.
A bandaid might be sufficient enough but it has always been said that 'time heals all things'.
I think battlewounds are the worst though... In particular, the battlewounds of the heart. These need more than just time. These wounds need stitching and restoration. These wounds need care. These wounds need healing.
Maybe it was a friendship that wounded your heart. Maybe it was a relationship with a family member. Maybe it was a relationship with someone special. Maybe it was a traumatic event of the past. Maybe painful words that can never, ever, ever be taken back were said.
Whatever it is, an open wound of the heart hurts. It is a painful painful painful thing. The heart is intricate. It is delicate. It is a part of you that you can never live without. It's an intricate core.
As you look at your past, you see past hurts. The hurts that put those battlescars on your heart. They are things that you look at, have forgiven but will never forget. The reason why you never forget is so that you will remember for the future. You will remember what happened... how it happened and what to do or not to do. And one day, you will tell your children or close friends that you know exactly how they are feeling.
As painful as the experience is, the heart will heal. The heart will heal when you're ready to let everything be. When you're ready to let go of that pain and finally close the wound... Trust, the wound will heal.
I look back and I see my past. I see the memories and words that will be forever engraved in my heart... Some memories are filled with joy and others are filled with pain but I take those experiences and remember them all. I write about them. I speak about them with candor. I pray about them. I forgive these memories or words. And I forgive myself for the mistakes I have also made along the way.
And for the future I remember....
"This too shall pass."
... all the pain you think you can never get through. The things that hurt your heart the most... it will pass. It might take some major time and healing... but it WILL pass.I know this. How? 'Cause it has happened time and time and time and time again in my own life. I have handwritten journals of every chapter that I have experienced in my life since I was 5 years old. There's just something about writing... writing poetry, writing journals, writing letters and notes --- that helps with the healing process.... Kinda like when a clogged artery or vessel is finally cleared of all the junk that's been building up. The junk that's been building up in your heart needs to be released. Chains will be brooooooken.
You see, the battlewounds of the heart will become battlescars; however, these scars are a testimony to your past... they are a testimony to who you once were... they are a testimony to how your life was...
And now, it leads to a better YOU in the future.
This, I am sure of.
"It's called the past cause I'm getting past and I ain't nothing like I was before..."- Signed, sealed and delivered...
