Eat.pray.love.

"We all want things to stay the same. Settle for living in misery because we're afraid of change, of things crumbling to ruins. Then I looked at around to this place, at the chaos it has endured - the way it has been adapted, burned, pillaged and found a way to build itself back up again. And I was reassured, maybe my life hasn't been so chaotic, it's just the world that is, and the real trap is getting attached to any of it. Ruin is a gift. Ruin is the road to transformation..." - Eat, Pray Love.

Words I cannot seem to say.

If you only knew. But you have no idea.
If you could only understand that this time, things are different.
I am guarding my heart.
This time, I've learned and I know that my heart is stronger. I am stronger.
If only I could tell you but I feel like I can't.
Silence seems to be deafening.
The words are stuck in my throat. And instead, another moment passes by.
Next time. Next time. Next time.
I know I did the right thing, but if you only knew.
But you have no idea.
If you could only understand that this time, things are different.
I am guarding my heart.
It's walls have been broken before and the repair has taken some time.
As much as I want to act upon what I feel or say what it is I want to really say,
I know that it just isn't right.
It doesn't feel right.
My head and heart are duking it out once again.
If only they could understand each other but they too, like you & I are having trouble communicating.
One knows the truth, the other refuses to listen.
Just like you & I. We know the truth. We know what to do but it seems we refuse to act upon it all.
Fear of uncertainty? Fear of the unknown? Fear of rejection?
Maybe it's just the nerves.
I realize now, that there are things I will never understand. There are actions I will never comprehend and vice versa. BUT.
One day. Someday. Maybe things will be different.
For now, the silence is deafening.
I will sit in that silence & pray.

The Element of Freedom.

"The Lord heals the brokenhearted and bandages their wounds..." - Psalm 147:3

It is time. I can finally breathe. Only through His words and promises have I ended up where I am today. I feel like I can see the blue skies these days and I am thankful. I am thankful.

There are so many things I desire right now. I want to be a stronger woman of faith. A woman that exudes Godly confidence. I want to be a warrior for His love. If there's something I've learned through the past while, it is that you will not understand how to love until you realize how much God loves you... even then His love for us is too big to comprehend. I've got the love that will never fail me, leave me nor forsake me... and I wouldn't trade that for the world. I want to share that love with the world.

"And the day came when the risk it took to remain tightly closed in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to bloom... This is the Element of Freedom..." - [A.Keys]

Pain may exist in the past. BUT. The element of God's freedom can lead you anywhere. Trust Him. Nothing is impossible.

Thank.You

"If through a broken heart God can bring His purposes to pass in this world, then thank Him for breaking your heart..."

Changes

They say everything changes. And it does.
People change. Our lives change. It is inevitable.
The difference is how you react to the change.
You see, even when people act like they've changed but really they haven't, my reaction will be different.
I can't let what's past bother me. Past hurts. Past things that have been done unfairly.
I will walk away graciously.
All will be left behind are footsteps and one day, you may wonder what happened....
And by then, I'll be long gone.
There's no such thing as waiting for change to happen.
Change is an action and I'm putting my foot forward for it to happen.
Byebye.

... Excuse me.

Life is full of interuptions.
Interuptions are simply meant to happen.
Often times we view an interuption as a nuisance... but truth be told, they can be a blessing in disguise. And sometimes you don't even realize it even when it's happening right then and there.
You can be at the right place at the right time, helping the right person. Or a person could be helping you at the right place and time.
You can be making a difference in a life. Or someone can be making a difference in yours.
We all impact the world in some way... how will you make your mark? What will you stand for?
See, life is full of interuptions even when we always have the 'on-the-go' kind of mindset these days. It's inevitable. We will always be interupted by someone or something.
The question is how will you react?

A couple weeks ago, I was at work... doing my work and an older caucasian man came up to me saying, "excuse me... but could you tell me if my special order is in yet?" Yes, it interupted what I was doing but I willingly helped out only to tell him that his order wasn't in yet. It was only a mere couple of minutes after where he looked at me and said, "I have something to tell you... by looking at you I have come up with three things. Wisdom, goodcare and excellent mother. These words I can see by just looking at you. And I am also here to tell you "Don't settle. Don't settle for anything less than you deserve..." And before I could even say thank you, he was gone. All I had was the small piece of paper where he wrote this down for me. It was like he knew exactly what was going on in my life then and there... but he was a complete stranger. A complete stranger who interupted my work only to bless my life and remind me what God was trying to tell me. Divine intervention at its best. That's the only way I could describe the experience.

Last week, I was at a concert with a close friend of mine and after waiting for the crowds, we were just about to leave when suddenly a couple came up to us and asked, "excuse me, but do you know what this line is for?". We told them that it was only for people with backstage passes. After chatting with them for a couple of minutes, they found out we had no backstage passes and randomly and willingly gave theirs to us. Who would have thought that night we would have met John Legend from the kindness of strangers merely interupting our conversation to ask us what the line was for? We definately didn't expect that one.

Life is truly filled with interuptions and sometimes you just have to give them a chance. So the next time someone says "excuse me...." maybe you should considering giving that person even two seconds of your day.... you never know what lies in store. Maybe you will be a blessing for someone else or that person will be a blessing to you... you never know how you will impact the world until you react.

Closing remarks.

"It's the way people try not to change that's unnatural...
the way we cling to what things were instead of letting them be what they are,
the way we cling to old memories instead of forming new ones.
Change is constant.... how we experience change... that's up to us.
It can feel like death or it can feel like a second chance at life...
If we open our fingers, loosen our grips... go with it, it can feel like pure adrenaline.
Like at any moment we can have a second chance at life.
Like at any moment, we can be born all over again..."

Porcelain Girl

She became just an object on the shelf. Something that he could take off the shelf and throw down whenever he desired.
It wasn't always like this. The first day he got this porcelain girl, he took care of it. He protected it from breaking. He saw her worth. Yet after awhile, he could not comprehend the beauty of her heart and soul. He forgot what it was like to protect her. He forgot that she was beautiful... inside and out.
You see in the eyes of everyone else, she was a delicate treasure.
She sat there on the shelf waiting patiently, thinking that maybe he would remember. Maybe one day he would remember what it was like...
But she realized this was simply a figment of her imagination....
She was the foolish one.
By trying to please, she only lost more of who she was.
She gave up her heart only to find this could not be returned.
Sharp words were thrown at this Porcelain girl....
It was painful... they could be forgiven but would never be forgotten.
It was a sad sight to see her in this way.
Her heart was shattered as pieces of it fell onto the floor...
It was as fragile as glass.
Her sweet porcelain face cried tears of sorrow.
She cried until there was nothing left to cry about.
The broken hearted porcelain girl watched as he closed the door.
He did not try to pick up the pieces that were left shattered on the floor.
He no longer wanted any part. Nothing. He walked away.
And then she remembered those words that shattered her precious little heart...
When those words echoed throughout the craters of her being, she could no longer bear the pain and ran.
The porcelain girl ran away to her original creator and dollmaker.
It was at the shop, the dollmaker reminded her that everything was going to be alright. The dollmaker was the one who truly saw her worth and reminded her that the one who chose to walk away and close the door really didn't know how to properly care for her. The dollmaker was the one who had the proper instructions of how to take care of this precious porcelain girl... The dollmaker whispered into her sweet porcelain face that one day, someone will ask for the instructions of how to really take care of her. Someone would treasure her. And that would be the day she would open her heart up again. One day. One day.

Clever words.

If there's one thing that I appreciate... it's good music with fierce words. What do I mean by this? It's the type of music that you can relate you.

I read these words by an artist, Lance Drummonds.... "As we travel through this life, we encounter various experiences, roads, and people. And as we journey through relationships, from one love to the next, we inevitably bring “baggage” with us, most times unknowingly from the previous relationship to the current one. We “walk” with it everywhere and carry it with us in conversations. They do not necessarily have to be negative “baggage,” but baggage none the less. I mean think about it, when you were hurt by something in the previous relationship and something similar happens in the current relationship a RED FLAG goes up. Like, “whoa….I don’t like where this is going.” It is just human nature. And this album discusses the journey from one relationship to the next relationship and all that we carry in between…."

And it made me appreciate his music even more. If you haven't heard of him before... cheeeccck him out. Good music. Real good music.

The wilderness

Currently I am reading through the book of Numbers. Last month, it was Exodus. And as I am going through these chapters... one thing tugs at my heart. The Israelites wandering the wilderness.... that's me. I feel like He's asking me, "Eda, how many more miracles do you have to see before you finally trust? I AM GOING TO GET YOU OUT OF THIS WILDERNESS.... I promise you." Just as God promised the Israelites back in the day, He has also promised me that this is a portion of my life that we're going to trek out of hand in hand and end up in the promised land. I look forward to this day. I look forward to this day.... And so, as we trek onward I look forward in hope. I look forward with a future that I know is all planned. I look forward to the day where I am outta this wilderness and on a new adventure. In His perfect timing, not ours....

Seasons.

There are different seasons I've experienced.... some easier than others.
This isn't just your typical season I'm speaking of... you know Spring, summer, fall, winter.
Nope. It's got nothing to do with those seasons.
And it's not your average salt and pepper seasoning either.
There are various times and circumstances that happen in your life. Some situations or 'seasons' are easier to bear than others....
The past couple of months have certainly been a difficult yet refreshing kind of season. It's been coming back to the basics and starting new... starting FRESH.
A different kind of season than I've ever experienced and I have to say that even though it hasn't been very easy, I'm thankful. I'm thankful that I am where I am today.
I couldn't have gotten from point A to point B without His love and His grace...
You see, the Lord makes everything beautiful in His Time (Ecclesiastes 3:11)... and "He changes the times and seasons..." (Daniel 2:21).
Everything that used to be just isn't anymore especially when it comes to friendships and relationships in my life... and I'm thankful. Why? 'Cause it's opened my eyes and heart to different opportunities and friendships that I never would have been ready to accept before.
My heart is His. I'm letting go of everything that was and I'm ready to experience so much more. I'm ready to be refined in His fire.... I'm ready to do his will.
Is this next season that's coming exciting? Yeah, it is. I can feel it... but it freaks me out at the same time too. I'm trusting, not knowing where He is going to really lead me... but I know it'll be exactly where he wants me to do.
I've been fighting it so long. I've been fighting for what I WANTED or thought I WANTED... how wrong was I? SO WRONG. And I've been unwilling to let go of the things that meant the world to me....
And slowly but surely, He took the things that were 'comfortable' away and I'm finding more comfort in Him. In His words and promises... Finally, I get it now... this is what He wanted from me all along.
So if you ask me, what does this season entail?
I HAVE NO IDEA... but I'm ready. I'm ready.

Strange reality.

I find myself in a strange place right now. Being in the ER yesterday was a reality check. A reality check of the emotional and physical toll things have been taking on me. Yet, God is still good. God is still there even when it feels like you're alone... you're really not. Hand by hand he took me through, assurred me that things would be alright. And, they were. Yet, I find myself in a strange place right now. The things I knew of... the people I would have wished for just weren't there at that time... My cellphone was dead... all technology I could use to communicate with was dead.... It was a reality check of my life and that no matter what comes and goes, God will remain standing firm. He will remain standing firm when the whole world seems like it's shaking. It was a strange, yet calming reality.

Lesson learned.

To my ladies and to my fellows:
It ain't stupid to fall in love. But it is stupid to fall in love with someone who doesn't love you back. Life will teach you this. Sometimes you may really genuinely care and love but to wait for reciprocation to suddenly appear ain't worth it. Why? 'Cause by waiting you are wasting your precious time and aren't guarding your heart. You deserve someone who knows how to love you just the way you are... no strings attached. No I don't knows. No Maybes. But someone who is sure. Someone who knows who they are and who you are. Someone who knows that true love must first come from God. To my ladies and fellows: It ain't ever stupid to fall in love. But it is stupid to fall in love with someone who doesn't love you back. "Above all else, guard your hearts for it is the wellspring of life." - Proverbs 4:23.

"Lesson Learned"

(Alicia Keyz feat. John Mayer)

He broke my heart
And now it's raining
Just to rub it in
I'm at your door
I feel so crazy about it
You'll say I told you so
You saw it long ago
You knew he had to go
I finally came 'round
I'm back on solid ground
Can't let it get me down

It's alright
It's alright
It's alright

Yes I was burned but I called it a lesson learned
Mistake overturned
So I call it a lesson learned
My soul has returned
So I call it a lesson learned
Another lesson learned

Sometimes
Some lies
Can take a minute
To fully realize
His tears
Your eyes
Thirty seconds to apologize
You give it one more chance
Just like the time before
But he already know you'd give a hundred more
Until that night in bed
You wake up in a sweat
You're racing to the door
Can't take it anymore

I was burned but I called it a lesson learned
Mistake overturned
So I call it a lesson learned
My soul has returned
So I call it a lesson learned
Another lesson learned

Life perfect
Ain't perfect
If you don't know what the struggle's for
Falling down ain't falling down
If you don't cry when you hit the floor
It's called the past cause I'm getting past
And I ain't nothing like I was before
You ought to see me now

Yes I was burned but I called it a lesson learned
Mistake overturned
So I call it a lesson learned
My soul has returned
So I call it a lesson learned
Another lesson learned

Yes I was burned but I called it a lesson learned
Mistake overturned
So I call it a lesson learned
My soul has returned
So I call it a lesson learned
Another lesson learned

Probably the most vulnerable you'll ever be is when you are finally willing to take off the mask. The mask of bitterness, the mask of hidden things, the mask of happiness, the mask of lies, the mask of fear, the mask of sadness, and the mask of anything that really isn't how you're feeling.
All masks put aside, it's time for REAL TALKS.

Shrek: "Don't you understand that there is no tomorrow or day after tomorrow. My life was so perfect and now I'm never gonna get it back!"
Donkey: "If your life was so perfect... then why did you sign your life over to Rumplestiltskin in the first place?"
Shrek: "Cause I didn't know what I had 'til it was gone. Alright? I didn't know what I had!"

Your Life Is as a Weaving

Let the peace of God rule in your hearts...
- Colossians 3:15

"My child, your life is as a weaving. Beauty will not come to you by joy alone. Life may be tortuous at times and the pathway rough. From fabrics of lovely silk and from cords of rougher materials, I fashion what pleases Me. You may never know why certain experiences come. It is enough that My hand brings them all.

My grace is not limited by sorrow and difficulty. Indeed, it shines like a strand of gold mixed in with the black of grief. My hand moves with infinite love, and I am creating a pattern of intricate beauty.

Never be dismayed. The end will bring rejoicing for both yourself and Me. For you are My workmanship, created in Christ, even in His mind before the worlds existed.

Doubt not, for My will shall be done.

He took away the stain of sin
And made me clean and pure within;
He took away the strain of care
And now I find peace everywhere."

Intricate core.

An open wound needs time to heal.
A bandaid might be sufficient enough but it has always been said that 'time heals all things'.

I think battlewounds are the worst though... In particular, the battlewounds of the heart. These need more than just time. These wounds need stitching and restoration. These wounds need care. These wounds need healing.

Maybe it was a friendship that wounded your heart. Maybe it was a relationship with a family member. Maybe it was a relationship with someone special. Maybe it was a traumatic event of the past. Maybe painful words that can never, ever, ever be taken back were said.

Whatever it is, an open wound of the heart hurts. It is a painful painful painful thing. The heart is intricate. It is delicate. It is a part of you that you can never live without. It's an intricate core.

As you look at your past, you see past hurts. The hurts that put those battlescars on your heart. They are things that you look at, have forgiven but will never forget. The reason why you never forget is so that you will remember for the future. You will remember what happened... how it happened and what to do or not to do. And one day, you will tell your children or close friends that you know exactly how they are feeling.

As painful as the experience is, the heart will heal. The heart will heal when you're ready to let everything be. When you're ready to let go of that pain and finally close the wound... Trust, the wound will heal.

I look back and I see my past. I see the memories and words that will be forever engraved in my heart... Some memories are filled with joy and others are filled with pain but I take those experiences and remember them all. I write about them. I speak about them with candor. I pray about them. I forgive these memories or words. And I forgive myself for the mistakes I have also made along the way.
And for the future I remember....

"This too shall pass."
... all the pain you think you can never get through. The things that hurt your heart the most... it will pass. It might take some major time and healing... but it WILL pass.

I know this. How? 'Cause it has happened time and time and time and time again in my own life. I have handwritten journals of every chapter that I have experienced in my life since I was 5 years old. There's just something about writing... writing poetry, writing journals, writing letters and notes --- that helps with the healing process.... Kinda like when a clogged artery or vessel is finally cleared of all the junk that's been building up. The junk that's been building up in your heart needs to be released. Chains will be brooooooken.

You see, the battlewounds of the heart will become battlescars; however, these scars are a testimony to your past... they are a testimony to who you once were... they are a testimony to how your life was...

And now, it leads to a better YOU in the future.
This, I am sure of.

Words of Encouragement.

Today I read the book of Philippians and there were so many things that struck me.
Struck me because this was exactly what God wanted me to hear today.
Things that were so relevant to my life at this point.
There is something about His words that are irreplaceable. They provide healing and wisdom like no other words.

"I pray that your love will overflow more and more, and that you will keep on growing in knowledge and understanding. For I want you to understand what really matters, so that you may live pure and blameless lives until the day of Christ's return." - Philippians 1:9-10.

This is my desire for everyone. My desire is for each and everyone of you to dive in deep with God. To want to know more about him and to keep growing in His ways and in His words. To walk closer to Him, hand in hand. Truth is that I've realized that sometimes in order to grow we need to be stripped away of everything else. Of things that may have meant a lot to us - friendships and relationships especially. But it's only because God wants all of us. He wants every crevace of our hearts. Every portion of our hearts. He wants us to focus our eyes on Him wholeheartedly.

"No dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead." - Philippians 3:13

It is so easy to focus on what was. How it was. How things were. How you were. What you did wrong. What others did wrong to you. But the past is the past. With God, it is always a new, clean slate. We need not to focus on our mistakes anymore but to look ahead towards the future. Towards a new version of you that has become righteous by His Grace. In His Grace alone are we made blameless again. EMBRACE GRACE. Let us not look back with regrets but see them as lessons that we can learn from. Lessons that we can carry on with us as we strive for the future. As we strive step by step with God by our side. Your mistakes will make you strong.

"But we must hold on to the progress we have already made." - Philippians 3:16

As God continues to take you forward into a new and deeper relationship with him, HOLD ON. Hold on so tight because you don't want to fall back into your old ways. Into the cycle of your old ways. A change has happened in your life... Hold onto this because the enemy will try to work triple time. Triple time to pull you back, usually using your heartstrings. Strip those things away and hold on to God.

"Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again --- rejoice!" - Philippians 4:4

No matter what situation you find yourself in --- good or bad, be thankful because God is taking you through it. There is always a reason as to why you find yourself in the situation that you are in.

"Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God's peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus." - Philippians 4:6-7

God wants you to communicate with him. He wants to hear your voice. He wants to speak to you and give you peace. Give you peace for your worries, give you peace in the midst of a broken heart and give you rest. Rest. Rest. Rest. He wants to protect you and guard you with this peace. Isn't this the greatest thing? God already knows what we need even before we ask.. He just wants us to ask. And think about how many blessings he wants to pour out... but he wants to hear our voices calling out to him. Our voices speaking with Him.

"For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength." - Philippians 4:13

God is going to give you strength in those moments when you are the weakest. In those moments where you think you cannot get by, God is will you always. ALWAYS. With Him, nothing is impossible.

I hope & pray that for each and everyone of my brothers and sisters.... that they will grow in increasing amounts of faith because this is God's desire. His desire is to walk closely with Him... and my desire for all of your lives is to continually grow and trust in His ways. God is going to do great things where we are at. The enemy has been working overtime to try to make our foundation crumble... BUT, it's time to rebuild.

Let us start from our lives first. Let us rebuild and return back to the basics. And then, he will strengthen our friendships and relationships by rebuilding them on the solid foundation only found in HIM.

Halleluyarrrr.

nobody

The truth is that nobody has it easy.
Nobody.
It gets harder and harder everyday.
Walking right isn't always the easiest thing to do, but it's the one thing I want to do right.
I want to walk by His ways. I want to do what is right. I want to follow his will.
And at this time, that means to let things be even when you may not understand why.
Everything is exactly how it should be.

TRUST. TRUST. TRUST.

Fajah Says...

So today was just one of those days where it's sunny outside and I am forced to study. But before studying, I usually read, listen to music and relax. Today was a bit different. I wanted some lumpia, so here I was cooking in the kitchen dancing around to Lauryn Hill. And in comes fajah.
He was in the garage fixing cars and here he comes to eat some lumpia.
Fajah says, "Oh you know Eda, a doctor, you know, dat wan is like a mechanic... you hab to diagnose dee car and you hab to pind what es wrong wid dee car. Just like a person. You do dee same. You know, it's just a simple dat wan. So you study hard, ok?"
There I was just cooking and smiling at the thoughts in my head like how 'just a simple' reminded me of 'I don't sure' and about how my dad had just used an analogy. I have never in my life heard him use an analogy that made sense (hence, the motorcycle analogy before) until today.
----THOUGHTS INTERUPTED-----
Fajah busted me, "Eda, are you talking to yourself?"
hahaahhaha. Busted. I was sooooo talking to myself in my head.

And I said, "Ahahahaha. Yeah. In my head. So pa, can you finish explaining?"

And so Fajah continues, "Well you know, I am a mechanic. A mechanic is like a doctor of dee cars. You hab to pind what es wrong and den you hab to pix it. Den when you pix it, dee car es better. See, wid a person Eda when you are a doctor, you hab to ask dem what es wrong and den you help pix dem."

And so I say, "But pa, you can't talk to cars so what do you do?"

Fajah says, "Oh you know, sometimes when I am bored I talk to dee car...."

At this point, I'm already laughing and so is he.. I say, "Whhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?"

Fajah says, "Or well sometime you know, when I don't know what is wrong wid dee car I say to dee car... CAR, WHAT ESSSS WRONG WID CHU?!?!?!?! You know, sometimes some other mechanic, dey always say dee eff word. I don't like dat wan."

ahahahahaha. WHHHAAAAAAA?????? I cracked up at the 'Car what es wrong wid chu!?!?!!' part. Ohhhhhhh man.

Lessons learned today:
1) Study hard
2) Being a mechanic is a doctor for cars
3) Don't swear when you're frustrated.
4) Pa always finds a way to make me laugh
5) Pa secretly talks to cars. I think that's his magic trick.
6) My dad is awesome. hahaha.
7) I have a new saying "It's just a simple".

Now off to some studying. It seems hard. And the addition of other things can add to that too. Somethings in life are stressful buttttt as my dad says, really
--- "It's just a simple."

Trouble Sleeeeepin.

It's one of those nights again. For the past week or so I have been sleeping at 4am.
So much on my mind right now. It's been a rough week.
It's so clear. So, so, so, so clear.
It seems so hard right now but I must maintain the focus that is Yours.
In Your strength, not mine. In Your will, not mine.

All you need.

"At this moment there are six billion four hundred seventy million eight hundred eighteen thousand six hundred seventy one people in the world. Some are running scared. Some are coming home. Some tell lies to make it through the day. Others are just now facing the truth. Some are evil men at war with good. And some are good, struggling with evil. Six billion people in the world, six billion souls. And sometimes... all you need is one." - OTH.

Decision

When I first heard this song, it reminded me.
That no matter how times change or how much time passes,
friends will always be there.
Friends who have always shared the same vision in life.
I am reminded of Eleanor Roosevelt, "Many people walk in and out of your life but true friends leave footrprints in your hearts."
This is true.
And I am also reminded of Proverbs 21:17, "As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend..."
This is true.
So, thank you. Thank you to those that have come along side of me and guided me.
Thank you to those that have stuck by.
Thank you to those that have taught me.
Thank you to those that have provided another perspective.
Thank you to those who may have even hurt me because I learned.
And sorry to those that I may have even hurt along the way, I'm sorry if we lost our way.
Sometimes loss is what teaches us the most.
Sometimes it is time that teaches us the most.
Sometimes it is pain that teaches us the most.
Sometimes it is distance that teaches us the most.
Regardless, we celebrate the times we had and the time we shared because we look back now and remember the uncontrollable laughter... the good times.
These memories will always be remembered.
And the truth is that things change everyday... no matter how much you want to hold onto the day before.
Each day is a brand new day to start over.
So, this song goes out to the beauty of friendship itself.
Friendship is a valuable gift.
No matter what the world brings forth, we got something to hold onto. Memories, the good times and genuine friendships.
When it matters the most, you know that you will still be there because you care. Because friendship matters.
Love.love.love

I fell in love with these lyrics last year when I first heard this song.
Some of my favourite people on one song together...
Busta Rhymes, John Legend, Mary J. Blige, Common and Jamie Foxx.
Listen up.

I made a decision
Despite all the things that we go through
I'm going to take more time with you
And be a friend indeed
I made a decision
That everything's gon' be alright
Going to stay strong and keep it tight
I'll be there indeed

Yes, let me talk to you
See when it feels like the sun ain't shining bright enough
It's like the devil's trying to work to give an idol up
And though I'm blessed, I still got to handle the things I go through
It's good to have a friend, with another perspective to show you
Someone you know that knows you and gives you motivation
Someone that you can go to and vent your frustrations
We always talk about our peeps, how we be everywhere
When you need them the most are they really ever there?
See, every thing be all good when we be having fun
The difference is really needing a friend than having one
It's good when your peoples are there to help your problems
And help you smile about it while finding a way to solve them
Look at here, let me keep it at 100 and let me tell you
How you hold me down is something I genuinely value
I got a clearer view
And being that you're always here for me I'll be here for you

I made a decision
Despite all the things that we go through
I'm going to take my time with you
And be a friend indeed
I made a decision
That everything's gon' be alright
Going to stay strong and keep it tight
I'll be there indeed

Well, how you been baby? But I'm sayin'
Even though we probably link up every now and then
With minimal convo, look it's real good to see you friend
Something I realize is that I don't even have to mention
Is whether or not you got me, that's something that I never question
Sometimes I feel that the people that I love don't appreciate me
And some hate to see the things I've been going through lately
See you was here, when it started to haywire
You're still here, walking with me going through the fire
And I really love you for it, I know you all relate too
On everything that I believe and I appreciate you
And just for that, it don't matter you can put that on my name
The way you rep me, let me be there just for you the same
Sometimes the pressure and the pain, it be wearing me out
But I thank you for just being there and for hearing me out
I got a clearer view
I thank God that you've been there for me, I'm here for you

I made a decision
Despite all the things that we go through
I'm gon' to take my time with you
And be a friend indeed
I made a decision
Everything's gon' be alright
Going to stay strong and keep it tight
I'll be there indeed
I made a decision

I look in your eye and I see the pain in it
Life's a game, maybe the game did it
I know I changed, they say the fame did it
Life has changed, maybe the game did it
Two friends, now in two different places
And the mister catching planes, and you catching cases
Friendship, we never based it on position
No matter the game, we both shared the same vision
Decisions to split us in the place that life seemed to hit us
I would come to town and never get up, with you
Around then, things weren't so simple
I had my own issues that I was trying to get through
Outside chatter, messing with our mental
On the chase of funds, trust, you can't forget to
It's the real friends, that you've got to tend to
No matter how far, just know that I'm with you

I made a decision
Despite all the things that we go through
I'm going to take my time with you
And be a friend indeed
I made a decision
That everything will be alright
Going to stay strong and keep it tight
I'll be there indeed
I made a decision...

The difference

If there's one thing that I've been learning over the past while, it is this.
He gives and takes away.
So I take each walking moment as a moment to draw closer to Him.
I am so thankful for what's being done in my life.
As every aspect points towards Your Will... it doesn't get any easier.
But there's a difference in me. I am willing to surrender it all.
I am willing to give You my All even when the future is cloudy.
I don't know what the future brings but You've asked me to do this.
And I'm trusting. Trusting. Trusting.
My heart, mind and soul are One with You and Your plans.
This has always been my desire and at last, I feel like I'm there.
I will be found in You.

The truth is that nothing is ever going to remain the same.
God is working His wonders. I can see it all around.
And for this, my heart and soul are satisfied.
Prayer is the key that will help you through.
And now it is time to unlock many new and different doors with His hands.

Swift SWORDS.

They can come swiftly out of your mouths as sharp as daggers.
They can build up or destroy.
They can be deceptive.
They can be misleading.
They can be empty.
They can have no emotions.
They can hurt you.
They can cause tears to overflow.
WORDS.
Words can pierce you right through your heart.
They can pierce you right at your aorta.
You want to forget this pain but this kinda pain always seems to linger.
It feels as if the oxygen supply has ended... No longer is your atria pumping blood to your ventricles. It seems as if circulation has cut-off.
Just like that.... It feels as if your heart seemingly stopped.
Your coronary arteries are filled with broken promises.
Open wounds are left alongside a broken heart where all you want to do is stay in bed.
You know what I'm talking about...
The 'I don't want to get up today' because I've been crying all night kind of feeling.
You tell yourself that time is of the essence and eventually hope that as seconds, hours and days pass by you'll forget.
You hope that you'll forget the pain that once deeply embedded your heart.
You hope that the pain and hurt of words exchanged will no longer exist.
But it does, ohhh, it does.
This pain lingers.
Will this ever go away?
Will this ever go away?
Will this ever go away?

It will. When you are ready. When you are ready to be set free.
When you are ready to make changes. When you are tired of wallowing in this sorrow you've let yourself drown in.
When you realize what pure, true and genuine love is really like.
When you realize that there's only one path left to take. The path that was there all along, just waiting for you to come around.
I only speak from first hand experience.
You see, I've got wounds that were once open but have slowly and carefully healed...
Now I got some scars... here and there. Scars embedded upon my heart from words that were used as daggers.
I remember that it hurt at first. Real bad. I'm not lying when I say it was hard.
Some days were easier than others.
And the recollection of what was once said makes the heart wince. Only for a second now.
But you see, those words that once hurt have only made me stronger. They have led me down an even better path that I forgot was there all along. They led me back to the source of pure, genuine love.
You see, those words have made all the difference.
Those words... Yes, those words that were thrown at me have made me realized my worth.
Thank you.
It reminded me that I am a Queen. We ladies are Queens.
Hold onto your worth and never, ever, ever let anyone take that away...

Shadowfeet.

Walking,stumbling on these shadowfeet
toward home, a land that I've never seen
I am changing: less and less asleep
made of different stuff than when I began
and I have sensed it all along
fast approaching is the day

when the world has fallen out from under me
I'll be found in you, still standing
when the sky rolls up and mountains fall on their knees
when time and space are through
I'll be found in you

Theres distraction buzzing in my head
saying in the shadows it's easier to stay
but I've heard rumours of true reality
whispers of a well-lit way

You make All things New.

When the world has fallen out from under me
I'll be found in you, still standing
Every fear and accusation under my feet
when time and space are through
I'll be found in you

A new

There is something different lingering these days.
A different me.
Freedom. Freedom. FREEDOM.
From chains that used to bind me.
Thank you for my everlasting freedom.
No matter what this world brings us....
You remind me every single day of how much you love us.
Undeserving. Completely undeserving.
Yet you, are relentless. YOU are relentless.

And so there is something that will be here to stay.
A different in me. A new creation in YOU.

Dreaming Out Loud

So here's how the story goes...
It took place a while back.
One day, I was feeling the blues.
Brother bear knew it. He could see it.
He always knew when something was wrong.
He asked if he could borrow my ipod for a bit and so after a while, he came back into my room and told me that there were some new songs on it for me to listen to.
He made a new playlist called, "Sad songs to make you happy." Kinda ironic if you really think about it.
Anyways, it helped. Somehow it really really really helped.
It was something a good big brother would do for his baby sis.
Music Therapy is always the best especially when it comes to lyrics and melodies that soothe the soul.
So now, when I play this playlist it reminds me of that day. And it reminds me of how things are different now. Change is inevitable.
It's a classic list I go to that always seems to help.
There are days I wish you were still downstairs and could update it...
Until next time!

These are some on the playlist, in random order.

Reminder

A phone call today reminded me of how much we've grown up these days.
We're not little girls anymore, we're grown women.
With big hearts and big dreams facing us.
It's funny how we can laugh at the past... about how it used to be like.
Of how we used to be like.
Why we wore the things we wore.
Why we had our hair that colour.
Why we even did the things we did.
How it was growing up.
Ohhhhh, the immaturity.
And the growth...
It feels good to know that we are where we are now because of the decisions we have made about our lives and careers.
2000+ kilometers is far away, but that don't matter.... Always & forever.
